BEANS FOR BAGS

Beans-for-Bags.jars.jpgThe Food Co-op credits shoppers approximately $18 a day for re-using bags from home. You can either take the credit or donate your 5-cent refund to local organizations doing good work in our community. How does it work?

  • You'll receive a bean at the checkstand for each re-used paper or re-usable cloth bag you use to take your groceries home.
  • Drop your beans into the labeled jars at Member Services. Information about the organization you’re donating to is available at Member Services.
  • Every month the Co-op calculates the amount of beans donated to each jar and gives an equivalent amount of dollars to each organization.
